States Raising Minimum Wage in 2025

Happy New Year! Twenty-three 23 states will raise their minimum wage in 2025, with most changes taking effect on January 1. Oregon’s increase is set for July 1, while Florida follows on September 30. Notably, Alaska and Michigan will see their minimum wage rise twice in 2025, marking a unique distinction among the states. Thirteen states have a minimum wage equal to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 while 6 states have no state minimum wage or have a wage below $7.25 thereby defaulting to the federal minimum wage, and 8 states and D.C. pay above the federal rate with no planned increases for 2025.
